Case Study #2: Workplace Violence Threat

A local manufacturer hired us to assist their Human Resources department with the assessment and management of a workplace violence threat made by a former employee. The former employee, who had been terminated for cause, made a threat of physical violence to a management team member while being escorted from the plant. This was followed by a number of threatening communications and the stalking of another member of management. Our team assessed the totality of the circumstances and determined that the employee’s behavior posed a credible threat to the company and employees. A plan was developed and implemented to temporarily increase the security at the plant in conjunction with local law enforcement, resulting in the former employee backing down and stopping all contact with the company.
